I'm glad that you're skeptical of crypto too. I have yet to hear a coherent explanation of how it works and why it is valuable. Everything is a metaphor of a metaphor of a metaphor.
Some of it is sensible, but doing ALL transactions this way is a double plus bad idea IMO. If you want a public receipt of a transaction, a public ledger makes sense, just as real property transactions are recorded on public records in the county courthouse.
But I want physical tokens to remain legal. And I want physical stores to stay in business. Amazon knows way too much about my purchasing habits. Once you specify home delivery, anonymity is broken no matter how fancy the crypto magic.
